A Study on the Effect of Resilience on the Acculturation Stress among Nepalese Migrant Workers in South Korea

Abstract
Objective : The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of social support and resilience on the acculturation stress among Nepalese migrant workers in South Korea and to recommend effective and practical approaches for their acculturation.

Methods : Participants in the study consisted of 191 Nepalese who is currently providing their labor in return for wages in any business or place of business situated within South Korea. The data were collected using the Psychological Resilience Scale and the Acculturation Stress Scale, and analysed by descriptive statistics, independent t-test and hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS 21.0 for Windows.

Results : The analysis results of influencing resilience on the acculturation stress among them demonstrated that resilience was the most likely to moderate not only their acculturation stress but also its all subcategories.

Conclusion : As alluded to, their resilience has the most likely to moderate acculturation stress and its subcategories so that the entire Korean society should provide opportunities to cooperate with each other to support their emotional and psychological interaction as a gatekeeper due to their circumstances.
